The Public Service Labour Relations Act, section 207 was introduced in 2007 which made it mandatory for the employer to have in place an Informal Conflict Management System (ICMS).

It was designed to support the Canadian Government’s commitment to “fair, credible and efficient resolution of matters arising in the workplace”.

The ICMS process supports a culture of effective conflict management that promotes honest discussion and collaborative problem solving between people who are involved in conflicts, with the goal of re-building productive working relationships between people.

If you are involved in workplace conflict please refer to the ICMS boards in each of the work locations and contact a referral agent for advice. Please reach out to Carrie Macfie with any ICMS questions/conflict, or a union executive can put you in contact with her.
